What you just described sounds more like youtube than what copolla says in this video here.
starkistuna (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
was he talking about Michael Bay?

to elites ? Or only to elites -and- young people who are passionate enough to walk the hard path of getting there, because it involved (at that time) pricey equipement and big staff teams. Remember that guy filming the flying plastic bag with cheesy comments in 99 ? He didnt upload it to youtube. Now he would. Everyday. Until everything that really deserve our attention drown into flying plastic bag and cinnamon challenge clips. Cheap cameras are accessible to more. Not art.

You're dead wrong. The context is all there. The only meaninglessness he refers to is that of "so-called professional" filmmaking. He says that film will become an art form at last when anyone can make a film. Of course, it was always an art form, but what he's getting at is that there would be a time when it would become an art form accessible to more than just elites. And it has.

He is talking about film becoming true art form through the end of professionalism, therefore he is talking about fat girls from Ohio in a positive way. It is YOU who are putting what he said out of the right context by trying to forcefully place it in the context of the whole segment, while ignoring that his conclusion can exist separately and make A POSITIVE statement about the possibility for everyone to make films as art, not just the fucking industry.

"He predicted the rise of the independent filmmaker."In 1991? Just some 102 years too late, then. (The Jewish-American movie oligopoly is a rather modern invention.)
echorse (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
You probably mean that he predicted Vimeo since there you can find way more art video content.

'meaningless videos saturating video media' -- sounds exactly like youtube to me. :p

Really, Mr. Coppola? Professionalism and artisticicism depend on money that some just don't have to create a Godfather now?
